Little Seedlings Free September Workshop – Autumn Colours | Sunday 6 September 2026

Autumn is full of brilliant colour, and September’s Little Seedlings workshop is all about helping children discover why. We’ll explore why leaves turn green, yellow, orange, red, and purple as the seasons change, how trees and plants get ready for colder days, and why some evergreens keep their colour all year round. 

Children will also learn about busy autumn wildlife, from squirrels gathering food to hedgehogs preparing for hibernation, along with simple ways to help their garden and local wildlife through the changing season.

There’ll be interactive discussions, a fun autumn colours quiz, and a hands-on planting activity where each child will plant their own daffodil bulb to take home and enjoy next spring.

This workshop will cover:

  • Getting ready for winter.
  • The different colours of the season; from glorious green, fiery yellows and oranges, and deep purples and reds.
  • Falling brown leaves.
  • Evergreens.
  • Mini-activity – autumn colours quiz.
  • Busy autumn wildlife.
  • Helping our gardens.
  • Workshop activity – planting daffodils for spring.

Please note:

  • Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • The Little Seedlings events run on the first Sunday of every month. Times vary per store. Please click on your perferred store below for available options.
  • Where stores are running multiple sessions it is the same workshop delivered at each one.
  • Parents or guardians wishing to order hot drinks for the session in advance can do so during the booking process.
  • Dates and times for our Little Seedlings events vary by store and not all stores are able to participate.
  • Advance booking is required with spaces booked quickly – please book early to avoid disappointment.
  • Where a session is shown as 'Sold Out' – we're sorry, there are no more tickets available for that time.

Attendance Instructions

Here are the details of the workshop:

  • When you arrive at the store, please check the location of the workshop at the customer services desk.
  • Workshops last for approximately 60 minutes and are free to attend.
  • Each child will receive a membership pack containing an attendance card and stickers.
  • Children will learn about the topic, and there will be a game and/or activities.
  • Suitable for children aged 4-10 years.
  • Parents/Guardians must stay with children for the duration of the workshop.
  • Should you wish to take photos at the workshop you MUST ensure no other children from the workshop are included in the photo.
  • These workshops are very popular and we would appreciate if you can let us know if you are unable to attend so that we can open up the space to someone else.
